Natural Polymer Science is the main theoretical course for the Pulping and Paper-making students. The main contents of the course include the biological structure and morphology of cells, chemical composition of fibrous materials, biosynthesis and isolation of lignin, the structure and chemical properties of lignin, the structure and chemical properties of cellulose and hemicellulose.
The purpose of this course is to introduce the basic theory of wood chemistry and recent development in this area, which will help students to understand the theories in pulping and papermaking process. It is the required course of pulping and papermaking students.
